When Minerva Louise, a curious chicken, mistakes a baby crib for a rabbit hutch, she searches for the rabbit and in the process discovers new additions around the house.

When she notices several unattended, colorful eggs in the barnyard, the hen named Minerva Louise worries that they are abandoned and cold.

Minerva Louise follows a farmer in a red hat from a snowy rooftop, down a "well," and into the house with the red curtains, where she finds a tree decorated with sparkling eggs.

Pip tries to convince her fellow hens, Midge and Dot, to join her for a ride in the farmer's truck, but she is the only one brave enough to climb inside.
