Business is slow in the Café and Carol spends the morning trying to set up Sarah with anyone she can think of who is single. As the rest of the gang arrive for their regular tea break they get more than they expected when faced with their old school friend John. Today is also Carol's birthday and her family, friends and Cyril's regulars have organised a surprise party for her to cheer her up. When the time comes for the big announcement what will Carol's answer be?

There's an air of excitement at Cyril's as our regulars get ready for a night out at Sing Along Sound of Music. Chloe is on hand to do Mary's makeup and is desperate to know if anything happened between Sarah and John at Quiz night. Carol meanwhile is frantically preparing for an important meeting with her accountant before the mini bus arrives to take them.

When Marcella is called to investigate a body found inside a wall, she is horrified to discover that she knew the victim: Leo Priestley, a young boy who went missing years ago while walking home with her son, Edward.

As Marcella undergoes therapy for her blackouts, the police find DNA linking Leo's death to convicted pedophile Phil Dawkins, but they need more evidence to hold him. Marcella also questions Reg, a former rock-band member with health issues.

As Marcella puts the final pieces together, she discovers that Edward is being held captive and races to save him. Later, Marcella decides she's finally ready to face her demons, but will she be able to handle the truth?

Jason issues Marcella a devastating ultimatum: grant him sole custody of their children or he'll tell everyone about her blackouts. Meanwhile, a lead on the latest body takes the detectives to a brothel, and Phil's true identity is leaked to the press.
