July is Disability Pride Month. It celebrates disabled people, challenges stereotypes about disabilities and educates the public about issues that the disabled community faces every day. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the landmark legislation that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities, was signed on July 26, 1990. Includes the American Library Association's Schneider Family Book Award and other titles that embody the disability experience.
