Gaze at the Palm is based on caretaker named, Sonoda Hina as the axis of the story as the author put together seven consecutive short stories with different characters as the main narrator. Each states their own impermanence and life confusion, the loneliness of love, and the plight of life. The author, Misumi Kubo is a Japanese writer who has won the R-18 Literary Award, the Yamamoto Shūgorō Prize, and the Yamada Fūtarō Prize, and she has twice been nominated for the Naoki Prize.
